The State of Texas

The State of Texas has provided funding to extend and expand the impact of the NPI program. The 2008 report, The Texas State Energy Plan, issued by the governor’s Competitiveness Council, outlines the state’s energy needs.

NPI’s Workforce in Training (WIT) program received a $176,000 Wagner Pizer grant from the governor’s office in May 2010.

The Texas Workforce Commission

The Texas Workforce Commission provides financial support through the Texas Nuclear Workforce Development Initiative. This grant is intended to build capacity and new programs.

The U.S. Department of Labor

The Department of Labor Community-Based Job Training Grant was awarded to NPI partners to support nuclear power technology programs in community and technical colleges. This support is driven by industry needs.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

The NRC supports curriculum development and scholarships for students in nuclear-related disciplines.

The Department of Energy (DOE)

The DOE’s Department of Nuclear Energy sponsors a variety of initiatives to strengthen programs in nuclear engineering and technology.
